Is chocolate allowed at all? I'll forego the dairy ones, I'm willing to settle for dark baking chocolate if need be, but I severely want some chocolate! Is chocolate a compliant food?

That recipe whets my appetite. I have a question about it: generally when I eat walnuts I break out in itchy skin, itchy mouth, throat, etc. If I am diet-compliant can I eat the walnuts and be spared the itching? I have similar reactions to other fruits such as pineapple, mango, kiwi, strawberry, and others. I basically abstain from those fruits. But this recipe, I really wanna try it. Hmm, maybe I should sub the walnuts with almonds.

It sounds like you may be having allergic reactions to those items... Hopefully, as you are compliant with BTD, the toxin level will reduce and the body won't react as negatively to these foods. Have you looked into Dr. D's Allergy Health Series book?

ABjoe, I haven't looked into it, I assumed if I'm BTD compliant my allergies will disappear! wrong? I did have an experience this winter in which I abstained from ALL fruits for a full three months. Then I began eating them again, and was able to tolerate them quite well. I may have overdone my celebration cuz I've been sick the past few months...don't know if there's a correlation or not...

If you don't mind my asking - what made you give up fruits?
I'm doing the BTD because of severe, severe, on-going, totally chronic and worsening allergies....and am reading and learning everything I can about how to become healthy. Your comment about allergies disappearing made me prick up my ears. I'm new to the BTD (less than a week) and, like you, am hopeful to see positive results quickly.
I'd hate to have to give up fruit, but if it came to that, well....I suppose I could, temporarily. Don't know if I could go an entire 3 months without, though!

Compliant at what level is the question...
If you eat all Neutrals, you will not heal or at least not quickly.
If you eat all Super beneficials and Beneficials, you will heal much faster. As I said, it is one more refinement to aid you in making better decisions for health.
I have had allergies so bad that they caused Chronic Fatigue to the extent of total physical exhaustion. I found NAET prior to BTD, so I eliminated allergies using that tool, although, eating according to BTD has allowed me to heal more than I was by just eliminating the allergies, because my diet was full of avoids.
Due to my history, I am very interested in whether allergies will be reduced or eliminated by following the BTD at a very high compliance to the Super Beneficials and Beneficials... I already know that it is the only way to keep the toxin levels low enough so that I don't develop new allergies and am able to clean and heal the residual damage.
here I second my confrère AB Joe, it is amazing how you body will react when having been for a longer time on BTD, you body is able to get balanced by himself(herselve) but it is seen and known also in clinical literatures, that if you stop eating some products for a longer period, ok let us say between 3-6 month's or more, and then you are going to reintroduce them slowly, that the reactions are changed, completely gone or just will only much lower. BUT....when Peter writes : avod....so it is also a preventive measure, that means foodintolerances are more common than real foodallergies....BUT if you body can't deal with a certin stuff, so please dont' force to get him accepted things it can't handle
my 2 cents in pidgin
p.s.
chocolate is only allowed for A2B nonnies... and here the big fat white-one ....minimum one pound a day ......
Dragonsgold, I gave up fruits cuz I am highly sensitive to their sugars. I would eat a banana and within a half hour I'd be itching (down there...). I'd eat a mango and my mouth would be all itchy scratchy, same with avacado and lots of other fruits. I'm back on small amounts of fruits now, and thinking of total abstinence once again. Though what would I survive on? protein, veggies, and nuts? Damnit! I hate the deprivation factor!
The meat and vegetable diet is hard, especially when eating with friends, but it is worth it. I have fruit once a day, usually a grapefruit shared with my husband (we peel it and eat like an orange). After not eating them for a while, I tried bananas again, but they didn't feel quite right. I also have had the issues (down there) and am finding that drinking all the water I should helps.
The Superbeneficial fruits for Os from the Allegy book are blueberry, cherry, elderberry, pineapple. The Beneficials are banana, fig, guava, mango, plum, prune. Avocado is an avoid for secretors, so that may be a clue to your secretor status. Most of the mango I have eaten has been dried, unsweetened. I tend to not be able to stop eating it until the package is empty, so I don't have it in the house any more.
I will probably buy cherries, blueberries, and plums for my one fruit a day when they are in season. In the meantime, it is amazing how sweet onions and carrots can be.
cherries, blueberries, pineapple, they all make me itch as soon as they enter my mouth! Mango, figs, banana, all of them make me itch like crazy! Therefore I seldom touch them. Carrots and celery make me itch as well! But cooked is ok. I do drink plenty of filtered water.
dark 70%+ cocoa organic chocalate is a good Detoxifier...works much like green tea in moderation.....try a square of it with your next cup of green tea and tell me how you like it
Chocolate is neutral, but be sure to read ingredients labels on the specific choclate you are perusing for purchase, so that you don't get any avoids in it. But chocolate itself is neutral for O's. There are some really, really good brands out there such as Dagoba and Endangered Species. Enjoy!
* edited to add: I see Lola already linked you to the choclate page of typebase! You have to get up pretty early in the morning around here to get a link up before our Lola does!

I am going to try that right now!!!!
I usually just put a little square of 99% Lindt dark chocolate on the roof of my mouth and let it melt away. (My friends think I am nuts...they have tried it and ask me where the sugar is. More for meeeeee.)

Aha! Your quote there, my friend, is more anecdotal evidence for my based-on-nothing-but-a-hunch theory that nonnies like things that are sour, bitter and/or salty versus sickly sweet.
Yeah, buddy!

If you are sugar sensative you could try this: melt 8 ounces of unsweetened baker's chocolate stir in between 4 and 6 tablespoons of vegetable glycerine, a cup of chopped nuts, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Spread out of waxed paper to cool and break into chunks. Some people use ground flax seed instead of walnuts or almonds. If sugar wasn't a problem you could also add a cup of dried fruit.

Yeppers...never had a really strong taste for the sweets. Sour, bitter and/or salty (crunchy potato chips...sorry had to put that in there Edna) versus sickly sweet for me.

Oh, my. No fruits.....serious deprivation!
Have you considered a possible candida overgrowth?....Unfortunately I've had a lot of experience with that.
Severely limiting fruit (and sugar, of course) and taking a really good probiotic will help with the candida. Also, for the southern itchies, liquid chlorophyll is really helpful. At least for this A, it makes my body more alkaline and the itchies go away. But then, my problem wasn't yeast, it was bacteria.
I used to have trouble with bananas and pineapple and grapes too. Mangoes weren't even worth eating because my lips and tongue would itch for two days. I found out that if the bananas and pineapple were over-ripe, the mouth itching was worse. If I ate them a little green, no trouble followed. I don't have any trouble with any of them now. I'm afraid of mangoes (an avoid anyway, for me). Although I will note this: at a party once I ate some frozen/thawed fruit mix that I thought had peach chunks in it. Found out later it was mango. Freezing the mango destroyed whatever made me itch in the past and it didn't bother me at all.

Actually did the EnteroLab test for candida and it came back negative. And the itchy netherlands....that's the rear end we're talking about....and I do take probiotics.
