Hi! I've finally figured out that I wasn't getting enough fiber. So, I really wasn't thinking and went and bought some high fiber cereal. Almost all of them have wheat as the main ingredient. I've been eating it in yogurt for a few weeks now and it's bothering me. Main problem is extreme skin itching. I know I need to discontinue using it, however, what can I replace it with? I already using oat bran and psyllium capsules, but I can only use so much of those per day. I AM trying to eat more fiber filled foods, but it's very difficult to get a full 30 grams or more per day without having anything with wheat in it. What do you guys do? |

I eat beans, fresh fruit, and a lot of veggies. I don't supplement fiber, but get enough from my foods. |

I find it impossible not to get 30grams a day, I think that is a terribly low number, If your diet consists primarily of veggies and fruits (as it should) you shouldn't have this problem. The only reason you would have a problem getting 30 grams is if you eat other things instead of these, so perhaps you should look at your diet and what foods you emphasize |

Like everyone else says the fruits, veggies, and beans always help. In America, most people do not eat anywhere near the amount of fruit and veggies they need. I think that psyllium is probably not as good for you as flax which is a beneficial, you can have it ground or whole but take lots of water with it and some soak the flax over night. If you follow the frequency and serving size recommendations you should be just fine. |

Eat tons of vegetables, some fruit, and fill in the gaps with beans, legumes, grains, flaxseeds and other nuts/seeds.
If you eat a sufficient amount of vegetables, I believe your fiber needs will be met. All vegetables (raw and cooked) are unlimited in quantity for blood type A's.

Hi Emster - I take two tablespoons of whole flax seed every day. I just put it in a large glass of water and let it set for maybe an hour then drink it down. I have better luck with the whole seeds rather than the ground. I tried psyllium for about a year and even though it gave me results, it also blew me up like the Goodyear blimp. Flax seed = no gas for me. |
