about 2-3 in winter and 5-6 in summer ! I don´t have as many nice benefical fruits as the B nonnies- but I tend to threat the B noonies fruits as bennies for me as well At the moment I eat mainly pineapple, bananas and green grapes. In a while the pineapple and grapes will disappear and I´ll have to stick to bananas and neutral fruit untill the strawberies- and other berries come. I tend to eat very seasonal when it comes to fruits- since out of season fruit is boring and expensive and heavily sprayed. It means that sometimes I´ll eat more neutral fruit - while in july-october it is B heaven here when it comes to fruitt |

Hi Lisalea,
I know I'm not a B, but like Henriette I am very strict on fruits and eat them only seasonally ... which does not mean when they are available in stores, but how these would appear - outside + locally. For Henriette and I that means all tropical fruit (fruit juices) are out for winter ... fruit like pineapples, bananas, etc ....perhaps we can eat some red grapefruit. I even tend to put lemon in my water only in the summer months.
This may seem harsh, but these plants just cannot survive up here in our cold .... long term will I do better? I really do not believe we can extract cold-tolerating aspects of foods that do not have cold tolerance themselves.
The only 'food' up here (at this time) are dried crab apples. Birds will only eat these as a last resort ... all other food-sources are gone! Applying such to our lifestyle means we eat a small amount of prunes in the winter and take vitamin D3 to increase immunity ............ along with seal/whale oil.

Lisalea- I would avod grapes with your sugar cravings, they are full of yeast and most likely only aggrevate your problems. Fruit was really not meant to be eaten in excess in the human diet it is still sugar and traditional cultures ate small portions |

John in general you read me correct - but I do eat soem bananas at the moment - just not HUGE ammounts- most of my fruit is dried at the moment... and I think this weekend I have had about- 1 banana and 1 handful dry cranberries- every day at max- I don´t crave fruits- but I know when June/may comes along I´ll eat huge ammonts- mainly from my garden. I ´m starting to feel the seasonal way of living hitting me more and more....... Today it was springlike here Sunny and 8 c - and I suddenly craved eggs, fish eggs and new green veggies/ sprouts- just like me forefathers/mothers would have done- ( maybe normally a month later or so) I thinkthat if you have a problem with fruits you should be careful with all the high sugar ones. I love grapes as well- and the frozen variety sounds interesting- but normally I would eat lots of them in september and octobre- not now |

Grapes are beneficial, but just be aware how moldy they can be. Clean them very well, first removing any that have visible mold or turning brown at the stem end. They break down very quickly and if you eat them blindly, you will swallow a lot of stuff that you wouldn't really want to be eating. Grapes would probably be good fruits to wash well with dilute grapefruitseed extract or dilute peroxide/water. But remove the bad ones before washing or you will spread the mold around. |

In season, I eat fresh raspberries, figs, blackberries, blueberries and cherries. In winter, I will use frozen organic blueberries and cherries. Also apples. For my juices, I will get Concord Grape, Organic Pineapple and Cranberry/white grape. I use Proberry blend from the NAP store in my smoothie, which contains elderberry, cherry, blueberry, raspberry and pear. I have banana in my smoothie everyday. I like strawberries and fresh pineapples, but they are too acidic for my body, so I never eat them. |

Lisalea, do you have sugar cravings after eating a meal?
It really all depends on what I eat really ... when I'm REALLY compliant: NO ... Unbeleivable but true !!! That's why I'm so hooked on Dr. D'Adamo's way of life/eating ... etc ... however; if I fall off the wagon then I just can't stop eating sugar !! YEP, it's all true ... the healthier u eat the LESS cravings u will have ... the thing is that with me; although I'm being compliant, I do tend to eat ALOT of sweet fruit such as bananas, dried figs, pears, grapes ... on practically a DAILY basis to satisfy my sweet tooth ... and I also indulge in at least 1 tablespoon of honey everyday ... and also quite often sweet potatoes ... almond butter, walnuts, cottage cheese with a banana and honey ... now, this my all time FAVORITE dish to have ... it takes away ALL CRAVINGS !!! I think it's all in the way that u fix these healthy dishes, I also will use LOTS of spices (curry, cayenne ... etc) and lots of ONIONS (red, white, spanish) and garlic on a daily basis ... Just wondering if I'm NOT overdoing things u know ?? I need a dietician !!! however; I look at it this way ... better this than sweets, pies, cakes. cookies ... Is this a logical intelligent and reasonable way to look eat ?? Thank-u very much |

Really ?? I thought the alkaline/acidic stuff was just bunk by what some naturopaths say?? Furthermore pineapple is a beneficial for us ?? Is it not ... How do u realize that it's too acidic ?? Is it by ur urine ?? cause mine is VERY bubbly ... I take it that I have a very acidic system then ... I beleive that some people r just more acidic than others ... LIFE remains a mystery for me |

That is very good advice and I have to say that I wash my grapes ONE BY ONE !! Yep, I'm picky that way Some people say to wash fruits and vegetables in cold water, I use lukewarm instead ... u ?? Thanks |

I'm not a B, but I generally follow the tendency to eat seasonally. Right now I'm eating storage apples and pears for a snack during the day with a small banana at night after dinner, so I can take my meds a little later and not worry about stomach irritation.
There's usually a time in the spring when there's nothing available, so I'll turn to dried figs or currants in place of fresh fruit if I get a craving. Trail mix made with beneficial dried fruits, nuts and seeds really works well until the fresh local fruit comes into season.
Victoria, I have the same problem with fresh pineapple and strawberries. I love both fruits, but they sure don't love me! I still have them now and then, but only in very small amounts and usually paired with some other fruits to buffer the acidity a bit. |

U eat ur fruits AFTER dinner ?? I was also told to eat them before or else they just ferment ... unless they're cooked of course ... Cheers |

Just the banana--I have a small one about an hour or two after dinner, when I take my meds (most of which cannot be taken on an empty stomach). The starch in the banana helps me sleep a little better, imo anyway. The other fruits are usually a mid-morning or -afternoon snack. |

LisaLea, You asked how I know if a fruit is too acidic? It makes me feel awful, usually with heartburn and sometimes loose stools. If I really eat a lot of something like fresh pineapple or fresh strawberries, I can even get little painful bumps inside my mouth. I get the same effect from oranges. And I wash my produce with warm water also. |

I guess I'm not much help here. I'm posting because I'm a B. However, I'm lucky if I can remember to eat any fruit at all. Lately, though, I have gotten in the habit of eating Wyman's frozen wild blueberries in the morning and one-half red grapefruit one-half hour before supper. I do drink pineapple juice for my morning B cocktail. |

Yes dried fruits are acceptable and these two varieties are beneficial for blood type A's. If possible, favor organic, unsulphured dried fruits as I believe the pesticides and chemicals on conventional produce can become more concentrated once the fruit is dried. Alia |

I agree with a bove a little - but only because having come to UK the quality of store bought fruit is just not worth the extra money. Whatever happened to the real Blackcurrant Squash here?....having said that though in the ethnic markets they sell fresh Dates {which I like better than the dried}. The main reason I can't wait for vacay - and eat Mangoes til I |

I concur that [organic] dried fruit is much more convenient, handy, economical to have on hand, it is very portable and one small serving fits into a woman's purse nicely. Alia |
