Hi, I am new here. Still too dumb to ask too many questions. I really believe this will be for me though. I suffer from adrenal exhaustion, and hypoglycemia.

My only question is Where do I start?

Thanks

mitzi...Welcome to the forum and the BTD way of life.  Do you know your blood type?  If you do you can go to the member centre and pick yourself up a nice blood type shield.  You can also go to personal settings and signature and put something in there if you would like.  Which books do you have?  And...don't worry about any questions you may have...ask away...that is what we are here for.

Thanks Debra,

No I don't know my blood type yet, but I think I could figure it out just by knowing what each one can eat. I know I need my fats and proteins and I need to watch out for fruits. I don't have any books yet. I just bumped into this site yesterday and saw some things that rang a bell with me.

I'm really looking forward to chatting with you all.

Get your blood type tested! Guessing is not a good way to get started because chances are you will guess wrong. If you can donate blood they will tell you your blood type for free. Or you can order an inexpensive Home Blood-Typing Kit from NAP. You might also try calling your doctors and see if by any chance any of them have your blood type in their records.

If you really want to jump in with both feet I encourage you to get the Secretor Test from NAP too because your secretor status makes a big difference in determining your correct BTD.

In the mean time I suggest that you read the Getting Started Tutorial.

mitzi...I am with MoDon on this one.  Getting your blood type tested so you can follow the proper way to eat for your blood type is best.  Also, your secretor status as he mentioned.   Lots to read just on this site itself.  Books you may want to pick up are the Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type and the Live Right 4 Your Blood Type.  You can always go to your local library and borrow them and if they don't have them you can do it through inter-library loan.

Looking forward to hearing from you on here.

mitzi, warm welcome to BTD and the forums.
and I too agree to find out your blood type (BT). Rodney can testify to what a disaster it can be to be eating for the wrong blood type. Totally not his fault tho, a dr typed him wrong.
I have some really good info for adrenal fatigue as I am in adrenal exhaustion/failure. I have pretty bascially no DHEA and very little cortisol.
Your hypoglycemia is a result or symptom of your adrenal problems. You must fix your adrenals before anything else will resolve. I would be surprised if you don't have a blood sugar problem too. That and A/F usually go hand in hand.
Have a look at http://www.drlam.com and scroll down to adrenal fatigue.
Also, there's a very good book called Adrenal Fatigue: the 21st century stress syndrome by James L. Wilson(thanks to MoDon for this very good book)
http://www.amazon.com/Adrenal-Fatigue-21st-Century-Stress-Syndrome/dp/1890572152
another important (IMHO) book is Lights Out: Sleep, Sugar and Survival
http://www.amazon.com/Lights-Out-Sleep-Sugar-Survival/dp/0671038680
(thanks to resting for this great book)
Also there is Your Bodies Many Cries for Water
http://www.amazon.com/Your-Bodys-Many-Cries-Water/dp/0962994235
(found this one on my own )

Water is very important for health. I can't stress that enough and doctors dont. Sadly.
Please don't feel dumb. No one who is trying to improve their health is dumb, they just don't have all the knowledge to do all they'd like. In time, you'll be surprised what you've learned.

Well, I've ordered my blood testing kit. I'm guessing I'm an O so it will be interesting to see if I am right. I'm eating like and O till then.
Will get my book, Eat Right for Your Type, hopefully tonight.

I'm excited about this. I have asked around and haven't heard of anyone who has tried this and not like it.

Thankyou Jane and Italy.

Just wondering about how long it takes to get the blood testing kit? I'm in Canada.

Actually, I ordered from the U.S. but they transfered my order to Toronto and called already. They're really good. They said it should be only a few days for it to get here, but my CC happens to be full so I need to make a payment on it first. That usually takes a few days for that to get through, so it will be a bit longer for me.

Thanks for your reply, though, Lola.

My understanding is, you can't purchase the home typing kit in Canada. In Canada, you have to either get type tested at a blood bank or through your doctor's office.  Now, the laws may have changed since I last checked into it.

No mitzi.  I'm in California.  I guess they can send you a typing kit direct.  That's great!  Soon you will know your type and you can verify whether or not your guess on your type is correct.

Mitzi - Welcome to this wonderfully caring place.
I've been here about a month reading and learning. I'm improving my diet and beginning to understand what has gone wrong with my health. I still have lots of work to do but I feel I'm on the right road.

Italybound - When I read your post (reply # 5) It helped me realize how much you all have helped me.  Someone suggested  "Your Bodys  Many Cries For Water" which led me to "ABC of Asthma Allergies & lupus" by the same author. (very helpful)
Then  "Lights Out" caught my eye; so interesting .  I'm still reading  but I'm beginning to understand Why I'm such a mess.  If I can understand it  - I feel powerful.

There are two major things you can do right away without knowing your bloodtype:

Stop eating wheat
Stop eating corn syrup - and watch this one, it is also sometimes called something like "glucose-fructose syrup" on ingredient lists in Canada.

I got my blood type from the Canadian Red Cross when I donated blood back in 1987.  They told me on the spot that I was O+ but they don't do that down here with the American Red Cross.  Maybe AIDS has changed who can handle blood and how since then, though, I don't know.

When you do get your blood type and start eating right, expect good things!

Very good suggestions, linnsmama.  Add High Fructose Corn Syrup to that list.

Hi Mitzi,
Welcome to the BTD  I am new here also.  Just a little over three weeks for me.  When I read your quote that you thought you could figure out your blood type by just knowing what each one can eat, I knew I had to reply.  It seems like for me that alot of the things I was eating was actually causing me problems unknowingly. Things I craved was actually an avoid for me.  I would have never guessed my blood type by what I thought I could eat.  I suffered from indigestion alot but since starting the BTD I rarely have any.  Anyway, I'm glad you'll be finding out your blood type.  The sooner the better.
