Does anyone know if nutritional yeast is allowed for O sec. ?  I have an uncheese cook book that uses the yeast for a cheese flavor.

Yes.  There has been a lot of discussion about nutritional yeast.  I sprinkle on my eggs.  People use it in salads, on soup after it's been cooked, etc.
Try the KAL brand.  I prefer the imported one but they are both good.

Nutritional yeast fine for all blood types.

I doubled checked Typebase4, and could not locate it.  There are values only for bakers yeast and brewers yeast.  However, nutritional yeast is listed in LR.

Yes...nutritional yeast is okay for O's...but alas, this nonnie cannot handle too much of it as I end up with sinus issues.  Inside sores and leaks....blaaaahhh...boo hoo.

Nutritional yeast flakes is indeed very good for B-Vitmains
I add it to my Basmati rice with a little seasalt, Olive oil and a  sprinkle of NYF;
indeed it does give it a somewhat cheese flavor ... it's very healthy and delicious actually !!!!

I bought 10 pounds of nutritional yeast flakes because it was on sale about a year ago. I still have about 5 lbs left. Does anyone know if it has a shelf life. It still tastes great.

Steve,
it should be fine.....
as long as you have it in the fridge......
it would taste off, if it weren't, anyways.

Nutritional yeast is not grown on grains
but on beets (usually, sometimes on
other media but not grains).  Brewer's yeast
is grown on hops, is rather a
flower, coming from "a vine related to the
nettle plant".*

If there is no experation date then as long as it has been closed up tight and in a cool dry place it should be fine.

Nutritional yeast is also very good sprinkled on eggs. One of my favorite breakfast treats is a scrambled egg nori wrap with nutritional yeast.

If you're purchasing very large quantities of nutritional yeast, it will stay fresh and maintain its flavor if kept in the refrigerator.  Most of the health food stores in which I've frequented usually store their nutritional yeast in the refrigerated bulk foods section of the store.
