I asked a simple question and the company owner's email reply was unbelievably rude. I wouldn't care if this company were offering free 2 carat diamonds with their grass-fed meat, I would never do business with them.
I've ordered from the following companies, and the customer service has been very good in each case and in one case, exceptional.
oh and here's a fun tidbit from the email from Slankers (FYI, this comment wasn't even part of the 'rude' comments, this was their idea of being friendly)

$3/pound grass fed beef. I just oredered 10lbs- the most delicious ground beef I've ever had. Make sure you call them first to check on shipping. Overall, I wound up paying about $5/lb with shipping. At Whole Foods (which, btw, has its corporate office in Austin where I live) I pay $6/lb for grass fed.
try finding some one local. this fall my husband found some grass fed highland scottish cattle just up the road from where we live. the farmer takes great pride in his cows. we made good friends with him, we ride our mountain bikes up by his farm all the time. such a great guy. anyway we bought a quarter of a cow this fall for $2 a pound, and that was cut up and wrapped to. next fall i'm sure my husband will buy a half. it really is great if you can find someone local. a good website for local things is localharvest.com
Mandi, I do have somebody local. However, his prices aren't as good as the ones on that site. I live in NYC and nothing, repeat, nothing is reasonably priced here; from housing to food to medical care

Most commercially available exotic meats are grain-fed? Also, there is absolutely no nutritional advantage for exotic versus domesticated meats. Just different flavors.
Me: Thanks for your email. Red meat, by my understanding, is the meat of a mammal - as opposed to poultry/fowl. I was also under the impression that the game meats - bison etc, were often grass fed.

african type o, how far are you from new paltz ny? I know of a great grass fed organic farm there. Sorry for your experience! I couldn't believe what i read. that's just horrible!

I cannot believe the arrogance of that guy. My jaw dropped when i read his e-mail to you ATO. I'm all about the boycott too. I wonder if Ted has ever heard of "word of mouth" ????? What a fool, is there a place on the web to post about such negative customer no-service?
I asked around about him and found a friend of a friend who ordered from Slanker once but found him "too intense" and will never do business with him again.

Been doing a bit of Googling on this ignorant, hate-filled bag-o-condescension and rudeness. First off, I could have linked an interesting article he wrote. Interesting because he talks about how there are "city slickers" (I guess that is those awful NYers again) and "country hicks", and the two refuse to understand each other and it is all the fault of big business. Hmmmmm, seems like YOU (Slanker) could be a participant in that rift with your anti-NYer comments, but hey, that's just me. What do I know, like most Americans, I guess I'm just as dumb as "a bag of hammers", per the same article.
But what I'm choosing to link here instead was a discussion on a forum that my Googling netted me. It seems our Mr. Slanker uses all manner of pesticides and fertilizers, etc. on his grass. You know, the grass that his meat is "grassfed" on? Yeah, that grass:

WHOLE FOODS FOREVER!
There is a Whole Foods in Manhattan, but Whole Foods are EXTREMELY expensive here. It's expensive for them to do business and they only stock things with relatively high profit margins. I'm out in the suburbs, and my store will not even stock pastured beef; they say it is not economically feasible, if you can imagine! (They did away with the salad bar . . . I heard because there was too much waste.)
