I tried the 20 minute turkey meatloaf from the recipe database Wednesday night. Eliana LOVED it to pieces. It's a great O and A recipe. We did have mashed sweet potatoes with it. And I know sweet potatoes are avoid for A's but I LOVE them. |

You might give pumpkin a try in place of the sweet potatoes. You can easily make it as a savory side dish, I do it all the time and it's great! Here's the skillet version that I make a lot: If you like onions, chop some up and saute them in some olive oil and butter. You can add garlic too if desired. Once the onions are soft and translucent, add in the pumpkin. You can use canned (the plain pumpkin, not the kind with the pie spices added) or baked fresh that has been mashed or pureed. Stir to heat through. Add a little sea salt if you like; I put in cumin or some rosemary too, and serve. If you want to make plain pumpkin, just heat it through with a little olive oil/butter in a saucepan, and season to taste. This is tasty any time of day; I often have it for mid-morning snack in the winter, on my days off from work. You can also make a savory pumpkin 'custard'. Check my blog for the recipe. It's easy and tastes pretty good. Hope this helps. |

If Eliana loved your turkey meatloaf, then maybe next time you need to let her try a beef meatloaf, which would be better for her, to see if she would like it. |

You could try blending ground turkey and lean hamburger together to get her used to the taste, and make a just-turkey meatloaf for yourself. On one of Rachel Ray's shows I got the idea to do individual meatloaves--just sort of make a shaped loaf--and I bet you could eventually make beef meatloaf for Eliana, and turkey for you I do this now myself and use the leftover meatloaves to take to work for lunch or eat for breakfast. |

I honestly HATE pumpkin and don't even like to look at them or smell them.
I thought Turkey was OK. Turkey is neutral for O's and A's. |

Mommy to Eliana, turkey is okay for Eliana, but it's only neutral, where beef is beneficial. That's why MoDon suggested the beef meatloaf. If she won't eat beef (gosh we hope that doesn't happen), then turkey it is! |

Actually she won't really eat meat. I can only get her to have about 2 bites of any meat. And I can't hide them in food as she knows it. She's too smart for her 2 year old self. But she ate 2 servings (about 4 tablesppons) of the turkey meatloaf. That's the most of any meat she has ever eaten in one sitting. I'll try a beef meatloaf this weekend (have to buy some none at home) and see how it goes. I'll let you know!

Eliana's tastes may change as she eats more compliant foods...
My wife just commented yesterday that a coffee cake didn't taste like it used to and that maybe our tastes were changing since we had been reducing the amount of sugar and grains in our diet. |

Laura, did the genotype test that Dr. D gave you show you that lamb was okay? Did it explain why you secrete light? |

Try mixing and masing parsnips and carrots together, winter squash, kobacha squash, fresh pumpkin for the sweet potato. They are all healthy compliant alternatives.
