Well, I took a crazy chance and tried some pure sheep's yogurt that I found online.  I have been eating it for the past few days just hoping that I could tolerate it!  I have backslidden, I'm sorry!  I thought I was doing okay, but today I am itching all over, even my private parts!!!  Could that cause that?  Also, I am feeling much more tired it seems.  

UGH!  It is sooooo good, and I read that people with a calcium rich diet tend to stay slimmer than others.  So, I thought I would just try, but it looks like a no go.  I know you all know this, but I just wanted to vent.  Haven't been on the boards in a while.  

I am just concerned about my calcium levels though still.  Everything I read says dairy is the best way to get it.  Also, my sons I get concerned for them too.

Any thoughts.  I'm not having a digestive reaction.  Just itching and more blah...

my advice:

DON'T BELIEVE EVERY RESEARCH STUDY YOU READ, for every research study that says calcium makes you thinner you will find five more that says calcium and dairy make you fatter

Thanks guys.  You are right.  I am pretty miserable with the itching right now.  It's not rashes, just crawling skin.  My female part is itching on inside like my skin is, just crawling, no discharge or anything.  It seemed to happen almost immediately after I ate it this morning.  It did it yesterday morning, but I just ignored it.  Saturday was the first day I tried it.  This is after having no dairy for years, except for some ghee, which doesn't do good with me either.  I just thought I would be brave and try.  More like STUPID!  I should have known, but that white creaminess was luring me!  It almost lulled me to sleep if I didn't know my body like I do.  I can't ignore it.  

I am thankful to know this for so sure in so many ways.  Many people suffer with this stuff daily only to pop pills and visit docs for it.  I just hate to have to go through this part of getting out of my system now.  But, I read it takes only about 3 or so days to start noticing a difference.  That's what happened several years ago when I quit it altoghether.  In about 3 days, I felt like a serious veil had been lifted off my eyes and my mind.  I'm still pretty airheaded, which I attribute now to my personality type, but back in the dairy days...watch out!!!  I don't know how I put one foot in front of the other.  I feel so fogged right now...and I've got 37 articles to write by Friday for a new writing job I got from home.  It's great, but I have no brain to put into it or to get motivated for it.  

Please say a prayer for me that I can get those articles done.  Oh, also I should have clued in to this when on Sunday (one day after trying the yogurt for the first time) I began to develop a big bump on the corner of my mouth.  It is under the surface, but it is a ZIT!  I never get those, ever!  It even hurts when I open my mouth.  Somewhere I read that is a good sign that something you are eating is causing a reaction!

!@#$$%%^^&&&**  (these are all good cuss words, of course!)

Well, I started writing what is called keyword articles for a copywriting company.  I'v had since Saturday night until Friday to get them completed, but of course brain fog has kicked in and I have only done 3.  They are approx. 400 word articles with formatting guidelines, etc.  

Should be doing it now, but am just sitting staring into space.  I am a cadet tonight.

The being spaced out/brain fog thing sounds like Candida.  Good luck with the articles!

Slightly offtopic - but for us Os, are non-cow sources of milk like sheep's, goat's, buffalo's, camel's milk considered healthier for us than cow's milk.  What about dog's milk or pig's milk?  Yeuch!!

IS THE CASEIN A PROBLEM TOO?  Even when i drain off the whey and incubate it for a long time,  cow's milk yogurt does not agree with me.

Sounds like it unfortunately -- but thanks to the suggestion about draining the yoghurt, I am now creating a nice creamy product without whey by using a fine plastic strainer over a dish, and while it will never be the same as icecream or cream, it looks similar,and with a bit of naughty brown sugar tastes pretty good too.

Read a while back that 95% of dietary studies were financed in whole or in part by dairy boards. Sounds a bit exaggerated but would explain the possibility of the study you originally quoted being more than a little biased. Dairy is poison for me, lactose intolerant for 30+ years. Many other places to get calcium. Good luck!

Particularly when it comes to information like news, science, and statistics...one must always bear in mind that things are ALWAYS written form the perspective of the writer {no matter how neutral it sounds} - and when it comes to science/research someone is paying the writer a salary to boot.

Go to a Food Composition Database and look up Calcium...how high doesthe Dairy really rank against other foods? And thats assuming the body actually absorbs that form of Calcium 100%...

The other issue when reading studies like the one that was mentioned earlier in the thread is that a food may contain a high amount of calcium but is not readily assimilated by people.

Sometimes I think there are more unknowns than knowns.

This has not been addressed, but were there any other ingredients in the sheep yogurt that could have added to your symptoms such as natural sugars, fruit sugars, rennet, et al.  I assume that there were no gums or preservatives since you mentioned it was pure sheep yogurt.

Perhaps you may want to abstain from any form of yogurt for the present time and utilize other sources of calcium from dark green vegetables, sea vegetables, nuts and seeds.

I will pray that your health improves promptly.

I do not consume cow's dairy because as I said above: it doesn't agree with me.  I do consume homemade goat's milk yogurt though
