I was wondering, if there really is a difference between pineapple juice from concentrate, and not from concentrate. Because, the pineapple juice from concentrate comes in a box, sheltered from the light (I've heard lighht destroys many nutrients in some foods, well when they're "dead" obviously.), while the not from concentrate juice comes in a clear glass bottle, fully-exposed to the light.
Does it make a difference? I'd appreciate a little enlightenment! |

concentrate is almost divoid of the bromelain enzyme that is abundant when the pineapple is freshly juiced...if you can find pineapples fresh affordable in your area...invest in a good juicer and make it yourself.
Having pineapple juice of any kind for o's is better then having none.

Be cognizant of the ingredient, citric acid, in the pineapple juice label. It is often corn-derived.

Lakewood is the best I've found. No additives, and organic also. |

If you are not able to juice your own pineapple, Lakewood is definitely the next best thing. Any storebought juice is going to be somewhat inferior to fresh homemade juice, but compromise is the word of the day here. It's better to drink storebought juice with few or no avoids than it is to grab a pop because you're thirsty Seems obvious, but sometimes when you're in the moment it's easy to get tempted by something not so good for you. |

Hmmm... Good to know!!! Since I started ER4YT I've been drinking so much pineapple juice you wouldn't even imagine (almost a liter a day)... I buy the boxes of 100% pineapple juice from concentrate (no sugar added), sad to know there's no bromelain in it... Maybe it's time to start doing my own at home... Thank you for the info!!! |

I make fresh pineapplejuice when I can get hold of a pineapple that are not too expensive.- I like fresh pineapplejuice and NOT the one I can buy. BUT BUT I just don´t like fresh pineapple to eat. I think I get so little pineapple left when I am finished and my skin breaks out in a rash so I stick to the canned ones : the ones I get is without any additives just pineapples in pineapplejuice- no suagr no nothing but pineapple. IS it ok ? Will I still get the benefit from the canned ones ? I use them mainly during winter when I am fed up with banans and oranges and dry fruit. Our veggies and fruit sortiment in shops are VERY seasonal so I have to eat what ever fruit or veggie that are in season.

To protect teeth from decay, everyone be sure to rinse (slosh) the teeth with water each time you drink juice, especially acidic juices. |

Henriette-the canned pineapple has been cooked because of the canning process, so the bromelain has been 'cooked' too--you won't get its benefits. However, it's still okay to eat, and igf you are drinking fresh pineapple juice, you don't need to worry too much about getting bromelain from the canned pineapple. I like pineapple juice too. I use it in Edna's Berry Berry Good Soda as a natural sweetener, and actually it's a great sweetener for tea and iced tea as well. I love the way pineapple juice and rooibos go together! The canned pineapple makes a great addition to fruit salads and I've used it in apple or pear cobbler as a natural sweetener, with excellent results. (This is pineapple canned in its own juice.) |

Thanks - I eat it mainly - just to get some fruit -when fruit is boring in winter- not really to get bromelain- Good to know that I still get it when I juice the fruit- just got two large pineapples for 3 $ today - normal price is 1 pineapple for 2.5 $ - so I´m going to make my favorite pick me up- pineapple- ginger and apple juice - yum |

Lakewood Organic Pineapple Juice is the 'cleanest' pineapple juice I've seen on the market that is sold in a glass bottle, in which I can still taste a little bit of the pulp/flesh of the fruit.

On a different note, Lakewood also sells an organic lemonade and cranberry lemonade, sweetened only with Agave Nectar. |

Where there's a will, there's a way, eh, Henriette! ? I wish I could share all the USA goodies with you, but I also wish that my body could digest wonderful Jersey cow milk and cream like yours does! And you have your lovely vegetable garden, and chickens (am I right? ) All the things we don't have, force us to get creative and do things for ourselves, like you said. Even though so many things are available here in this country, I can't afford most of them, so I do it myself anyway, like you do. |

I drink canned pineapple juice. No additives, but I also eat fresh pineapple for breakfast every day, so I think I'm good. |

Victoria Yep I still have the chickens- for eggs...... but they don´t lay at the moment it is too dark for them- but in 2 months time I´ll be able to get fresh eggs. Yes I am happy about the dairy and my veggie garden- picked a large bunch of parsley and the last beets - yester and felt so lucky. So I´ll survive that I have to make my own juice... It taste better anyway- and I try to drink max 1 glass of juice pr day- so it is not a bother. - yes you are right we have to be creative- and I love it |

I am sitting here drinking a 6oz can of Dole pineapple juice as I read this thread. It is not from concentrate and the ingredients are pineapple juice, ascorbic acid(vit C), vit E, and vit A. Nice little breakfast or snack drink to have around. Great to grab and go which seems to be my lifestyle these days. |

Goes without saying that the Pasteurization of any food product changes its nutritional constitiuents. However, after a casual Googling revealed no Hardcore reference as to Juice, but scads on Dairy products. I've also read in the past that its the Pasteurized Juices that affect the Blood Sugar levels and Acidity faster than Raw Juice and this particular association with Diabetics... To be Up Front - Dole and Chiquita are on my Avoid List in general. |

Ahh, thanks. I wasn't sure if it was the actually companies that were being boycotted, or the products. So, pasteurized juices are out. One more thing to avoid, on my already long list of things to avoid. If only I had the means and resources to make/grow all of my own foods and still have the quality of life that I want! This is probably TMI, but I'm having a hard time with the added stress of trying to avoid the avoids, and still reap the benefits. Stress for me is my number one health issue right now and being stressed over food defeats the purpose of eating right, me thinks. Ahhhhhh....the moderation fairy just gave me the nod... |
