I was inspired by Mrs. T to find ways to use unsweetened cocoa, since I don't eat sugar, but still would like to get the benefits of chocolate. So I started drinking an occasional cup of Black Chocolate. It's just hot cocoa without the milk and sweetener. I really like it. I also really like green tea. This morning, while listening to Dr. D's interview on the radio, I heard a commercial for cocoa tea. This was basically green tea with cocoa. I think it's a fantastic idea, especially holding some possibilities for those who may be trying to get off coffee, but need something more "stout" than green tea. I have recommended Black Chocolate on several occasions as an aid in getting over coffee, but this new twist of green tea/cocoa would offer a lot. The antioxidant properties of each are varied from each other, so I think it's a good drink to experiment with. |

Nice idea, Victoria. I would have never conceived of mixing these two beverages together.

kombucha-'Manchurian tea mushroom' ~ not an actual mushroom as we understand it, but rather a colony of yeast and bacteria. Kind of like the "tea" version of sourdough starter. It appears to create an acidic, laxative and possibly probiotic substance in the two weeks it sits in the tea
perhaps it is not advised for those who have mold issues..... |

I could certainly see that, as it tastes like mold. |

Looks like the scariest pond scum when it's growing in the jars!
I've tried it, and it seems to make a very acidic condition in my body. I don't like it at all. When my daughter drank it daily for a few months, she developed some tooth decay, even though she drank it through a straw and rinsed well afterwards. I think it's that acid effect again, and the body leaches calcium out of teeth and bones to help keep the bloodstream alkaline. |
