I need some ideas, besides eggs, of some good protein/fat breakfasts. I have pcos, hypoglycemia, possibly insulin resistence, etc.

Leftover turkey, lightly heated in a little curry powder.  Serve with reheated leftover greens.  If you eat spelt, make a turkey sandwich.  We don't worry about "breakfast foods"--eat leftover meat, greens, root vegetable and meat stews, etc.

Cow/goat dairy product with added nuts/seeds and a little low glycemic fruit; fish and vegetables; meat and vegetables; NAP 'B' Protein shake; smoothie made with nut butter, greens, protein powder.

I always eat a liquid breakfast. . . found out 3 decades ago that it was what my body was happiest with.
To fresh and frozen fruit (cherries and blueberries)
and beneficial juice, milk or nut milk add:
yogurt
nutritional yeast
freshly ground flax
powdered green food
lecithin

And anything else you like, such as Alia's suggestions of nut butters, NAP protein shake, whey powder,
egg yolks, chevrie cheese, etc.

thank you so much for mentioning this. I forgot about that. When I was in my best shape - I lost 49 lbs with ER4YT and this is what I did I got up early in the morning and had a protein shake. I should try this.

By the way, how much yogurt should I add? And fruit?

Here the recipe for a typical Power Drink for me:
For approx. 5 to 6 cups :

1 1/2 C juice (check your food list for beneficials)  I use organic Concord Grape, or Cranberry/grape blend.
1/2 C fresh or frozen fruit (use beneficials when you can) I use frozen blueberries and cherries when I can't get fresh berries.
1 banana
2 to 3 Tb flax seeds freshly ground, or frozen ground flax.  After grinding, it increases in volume.
2 to 3 Tb. nutritional yeast
2 Tb. green powder, such as Harmonia.  I'm currently using Greener Grasses.
1 rounded Tb. lecithin granules.  I like Health Alliance brand because it's non-genetically modified, and is powdered instead of granules.
1 tsp. Chlorella.  I buy Yaeyama cracked cell.
2 tsp. ProBerry syrup from NAP
1 rounded Tb. ARA6 from the NAP store
3 Cups homemade goat's milk Yogurt.  Use whatever yogurt you like.

For more protein, add Whey powder, Rice Protein Powder, Egg White Protein Powder or NAP Protein powder for B's.  Or for a different approach, use milk (if you can handle it.  I can't.) instead of juice; use almond/walnut butter instead of the berries.  Keep the banana and the rest of the ingredients as is.

I would LOVE to start doing this again. Is there any way an O can possibly get enough protein doing a liquid breakfast? Ohh, how nice that would be. I'd have that ol' VM whirrin' away.

What about rice protein powder in your shake?  Although I love a green drink (this morning was cabbage, celery, parsley, cilantro, apple, winter squash, a little leftover turnip greens and baby (one inch) turnip, milk thistle seed, pinch of salt, pineapple juice, and ice cubes) with either a lightly fried egg or a buffalo burger (with chopped shallot and mignonette pepper--i.e. fresh ground black pepper and coriander).  So I have a small protein item that is easy to heat up with the green stuff.

Elizabeth, I thought of that, but I really don't like the rice protein powder. I may try it again IF I can. Since I'm hypoglycemic, I have to follow the Diabetic book, and I have been 'ordered' by Lola   to leave it be. She's right tho, if it's an infrequent neutral, better left alone. So I don't know if this rice protein powder comes under the same status as rice bran/puffs/cereal/etc. Anyone know?

When I do shakes I put raw eggs in there, delish......... of course make sure they are good quality eggs, organic, farm-fresh (if possible) omega 3

Try JayRobb eggwhite protein powder, very basic and tasty.

I used to make me and Rich a shake every morning w/ this. We got to where it bothered both of us. Tried it again not long ago. Same thing. A real shame too, because it's pretty pure from what I remember.

Good reminder for me, too. I simply cannot eat any kind of carbs first thing: Heartburn! It's Protein/Fat or Nothing.  Coffee is fine.

So it is possible to have hypoglycemia and insulin resistance?  I do too, so I guess it must be!

I love mexican food/flavors in breakfast...taco salad, the occasional beans along with whatever meat or egg, and of course greens are always great.



Type O+ blogger, secretor afterall. Gluten intolerant. With two gluten intolerant sons:  A+ Secretor 10 yo (also fructose intolerant and slightly egg allergic), and  O- 7yo.
