I wasn't sure where to post this but I feel it's related to diet so I figured I would try here first.
I'll shower and I will be nice and fresh but by the end of the day, my pits will be a little ripe and not smell that great at all. The rest of the body is fine, it's the armpits. What I'm wondering is maybe it's something in the diet? I'm an O and I have red meat almost every day of the week yet I've read that it is red meat that can be a contributor to this.
I've been taking zinc and magnesium but that's not helping. My next step is to try chlorophyl supplements or aerobic oxygen.
Something has to give sooner or later! More to the point... I can have some days where I don't stink at all!?
Anyone? |

you are having the recommended amounts of water with a pinch of sea salt (and or lemon juice) a day, right?
how often do you exercise to sweat off the toxins? |

I drink about a liter and half of water a day and I exercise every day as well. I at least walk to work and back (about 40 minute round trip) and 3-4 days a week I'll hit the gym.
No salt or lemon in the water though... interesting. |

Hi Phred, I too need a deodorant; a lot of people here in the forum give the best judgement on Lavilin. John Mac Donnell wrote some months ago that stinky persons can use the supplement taurine (easy to find and not expensive) with very good results. He is a clever and knowledgeable man and I'll try it.

I would up the water ......drink half your weight in ounces........the pinch of sea salt and, or lemon juice helps hydrate the body at a cellular level (deeper).
do you eat a fair amount of veggies with your protein? very important, for balancing........ |

Oh ya... plenty of greens and drink fruit smoothies (no dairy) with some hemp protein powder. I eat nuts as well as some grains (all neutral ones).
I stick to the diet fairly strictly lately too. |

The only thing that works consistently for me is Lavilin. I only have to put it on every ten days or so, living up here in the high country, although once a week was about average when I lived at sea level. Even though a small container costs around $13, it lasts a long time. I've had mine since March and I've only used about a third. |

Phred, Fresh sweat does not smell bad. It's the bacteria that grow in the sweat that is sitting on the surface of your skin that makes the odor. If you can manage to wash your armpits very well with some soap, even a natural antibacterial soap, some hours into your day, you may find that is enough to take care of your problem. If you use deodorant, use it on freshly washed skin. It's true that body chemistry and/or the foods we eat, and the state of health, efficiency of metabolism, all effect sweat odor. But at least kick up the hygiene a notch or two. It's common to do a "hit and miss" wash on the armpits, so try and really clean those babies! A good underarm soap is Dessert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash. I use it for underarms instead of my face. CLICKOr try any good chemical-free soap with some antibacterial herbs. If you don't want to use deodorant, try splashing with witch hazel after washing. |

Here is the deodorant that I use. It is called The Best Deodorant, by Benedetta and contains organic grape alcohol and essential oil that discourage bacteria growth. It works well for me, but it does smell quite strongly of herbs (sage, rosemary, etc.) I cut it half and half with witch hazel, but it works better uncut. CLICKMy daughter uses the crystal mineral rock deodorant. There are a lot of different brands, available in natural food stores. CLICK These work very well. Again, all lose their effectiveness if skin is not completely cleaned first. |

The hygiene is definitely there as I wash my pits about twice a day to keep them fresh and so that controls it BUT for me..it's more getting to the cause of it. I also use the rock crystal and spray to very good effectiveness. I find the majority of "natural" deodorants all either fail after a few hours, make your pits sticky or just have to strong a smell for me which is why I stuck with the crystal.
I take B100, an excellent magnesium citrate formula so the latest thing I'm going to try is the L-Taurine as mentioned above. I'm also going to look into the lavallin. The witch hazel is a good idea too.
I use a very good natural tea-tree oil soap by The Soap Works... very effective. |

Earth Science works really well, not like any other natural deodorant. Many of the crystal deodorants have aluminum "salts" in them, so if you were using natural deorodrant to try to get away from aluminum, you may be losing the battle.

The brand I'm presently using is DSA Crystal Deodorant Stone made only with natural mineral salts. Says right on the bottle "no aluminum Chlorhydrate". |

The thought occured to me while reading this thread that there must be something really contributing to this among the elements in your diet. Perhaps an approach you might try is to select things to eliminate even though you are happy with other benefits in the same way folks go about nailing the culprit of an allergy. The meat you are providing your system with would be my first suggestion. Try another source of organic meat if you already go that route. Your sweat is carrying something out most of the time. You indicated occassional odor free days. It's time to keep an input log and see if you can chart a pattern. Is your water assumed to be pure? The greens you mention getting plenty of might have to be restricted to one at a time for a few days. I just mean to say simplify for a while so you can establish a baseline of things. Do you drink any alcohol? Garlic might be another item to back away from. Just my two scents worth. Iemnli |

Phred, how concentrated is your urine? if it has a distinctive odor and color, it might be wise to up your water intake during the day. do you eat a lot of dried fruit (figs, prunes)? a liter and a half is not a lot of water, considering your body weight. I d say you would need at least 2 liters perhaps more...... (the equivalent of half your body weight in ounces)

Aan, Do you get good results from the baking soda? It occurred to me that witch hazel and baking soda might make a good, and inexpensive combination. The baking soda could be dissolved in the witch hazel, for those who like a liquid deodorant, and kept in a little spray bottle.
These are two common ingredients in a lot of natural deodorants. |

Quoted from Vicki
Earth Science works really well, not like any other natural deodorant. Many of the crystal deodorants have aluminum "salts" in them, so if you were using natural deorodrant to try to get away from aluminum, you may be losing the battle.
This has been a question of mine also, Vicki. About 10 years ago, I was experimenting with the mineral crystal deodorant, and noticed that alum is a primary component, in the crystal. I called several of the companies and inquired about its safety, since it's my understanding that it is a naturally occuring form of aluminum. I was told by all the companies that the type of aluminum that alum is, consists of a large molecule, so big that it cannot enter the skin at all, and does not enter the blood stream. I believe they said that aluminum is refined from alum, and in it's refined state, it has very small molecules which pentrate the skin, as in commercial anti-perspirants. So if anyone else wants to check on the truth in those facts, it would be great! |

Interesting comment, Henriette! Years ago I used to feel the chlorophyl tablets I chewed were very effective, but they went off the market and I went in other directions. |

Funny enough I have noticed the same thing in my 12 yo daughter- She has gone into puberty BIG TIME this summer- so off course she changes : BUT All during summer when she followed her O diet she hardly smelled- she did sweat!- but when I got sick and stressed I couldn´t really keep her on the BTD- so some O less friendly thing sneaked in- BINGO!!: BAD TEEN smell again- It takes apox 10 days of good O diet to get her back to her normal smell. I use this one from www.green people.co.uk http://www.greenpeople.co.uk/p.....07-a1ea-61257354e356very efficient and good. |

Ok so I think we have a winner - chlorophyll! I bought it in liquid form and within a DAY of using it... the odor all but stopped. After a crazy long day and a workout the odor was barely detectable... and I had to plant my face in my pits.... I'm also taking L-Taurine.. but I tried NOT taking the L-Taurine today but still taking the chlorophyll and it looks like it's the one that is doing... SOMETHING. Not to shabby at all! Thank you all for the input! |
