I am also a B, secretor status not known, but I did stop eating tomatoes when I read ERFYT. I grew up on a farm and we always had a big garden of organically grown fruits and vegetables including tomatoes and I never seemed to have a problem eating them. I do now see that the Type 4 food database list shows that if you are a B non secretor, that tomatoes are a neutral. So if you can find out your secretor status and are a non secretor, it seems you can use ketchup occasionally without a problem.
Just a note on that though - when we do buy ketchup, we try to get the organic kind and a variety that does not use high fructose corn syrup as the sweetener. There is a brand we get at Wild Oats that does not have this corn syrup added.

The one we have right now is "Naturally Preferred" brand Organic Tomato Ketchup; distributed by Inter-American products, Inc, Cincinnati, OH. They show an 800# on their label 1-800-697-2448 and their website as http://www.interamericanproducts.com
Ingredients are rganic tomato puree, organic sugar, organic white vengar, sale, organic onion powder and organic spices.
Has only 2 g of sugar and 150 g of sodium but is not bland at all. Given the incredients and the low sugar and sodium levels, we immediately found it a better choice than the normal ketchups. Costs a little more but that seems typical right now with the organic products.
After I thought about it, we got it either at Wild Oats or at our local Kroger affliate store in their ketchup section. The Kroger store is now adding a lot of organic items to their regular inventory. Joyce
