Thanks, everyone. I actually lost the 30 lbs. before BTD, due to diarrhea and just plain not eating cuz I knew it would make me sick. That's why I'm concerned about gaining weight now that I'm able to eat without getting sick. It seems like staying reasonably compliant should not cause that to happen, since I'm mostly eating lean meats (fish, turkey, chicken) and lots of veggies and fruits. I do exercise daily with my dogs but need to get back to doing some strength training. Sounds like it's up to me to make sure I use the calories I take in. |

To ease your own mind, Rottlady, think about how you ate when you weighed more than you wanted to weigh. Try and get a feel for what it was that caused you to pack on the weight. Notice how your eating habits are different (or similiar) now, and try to see the areas that you have flexibility and where you don't. |

rottlady, you might want to get your secretor status checked. this will enable you to target more accurately what you are trying to achieve. notice Victoria said she lost no weight on the sec diet, but once she found out her sec status and switched over to nonnie, lost 30 lbs. I believe this is what Dr D is talking about when he says:

The appropriate diet for your type will tend to do that better than just about any other.
On the oils, please do adjust if you feel it necessary, as Alia Vo says, but please try to use your benneficial oils. I lost 8 lbs when I started, tho I didn't really think I needed to lose. Guess my body thought differently. Isa my dearle, ahhhheemmmmmm, is the cafe your problem? I know it's hard to give up isn't it. Still a problem here too, but only about once a week. does that count?

just recently I put on a jeans two sizes smaller
I'm so jealous! Happy for you, tho. I should've lost some weight over this past 4 mths, but nope. I should have the tightest legs and butt muscles in Southeast Ill as many times as I've been up and down the ladder. But nope. Hopefully when I get my hormones all where they should be, I'll start to see some change. |

Just read an article in today's paper that they are finding that some people don't lose weight no matter which diet they follow or how religiously they stick to it and that has to do with their body chemistry.
Most of my weight loss was due to stomach problems due to stress over my daughter's illness, but as my stomach has shrunk I definitely eat smaller portions. And my BTD foods are primarily fruits and veggies and lean proteins, so I'm hoping that will keep me feeling better and keep me thin.
I think I will check into my secretor status. I haven't done so yet because I didn't think it would really make a big difference in what I eat. |

rottlady, one thing you have to bear in mind when reading those articles, is they're once again a one size fits all statement. Body chem may play a small role, but from what I've experience, eating for your BT makes a huge dif. Knowing your sec status will help alot as well. foods and portions are different. Let us know how you're doing w/ this in the future. While you're waiting for your sec status results, maybe you could try eating a nonnie diet and see if your weight budges. also you may see changes in how you feel. |

There seems to be more of a difference in acceptable foods between the secretor types for A's than other types. At least that's what a number of A's have posted on this forum. |

Sandra,
How often do you do the 570 stairs? That sounds like great muscle building exercise.
If I had something like that in Florida for exercise (there's not much elevation here of any kind) I'd certainly hope there would be something to see once I got upto the top because I'd be catching my wind for a while. Good thing the trip down is always easier.
I can certainly make better use of my YMCA membership, I know.

I go four to five times in the week. This week I've gone every day. Going again this afternoon after work en this weekend we are biking again. Yesterday I managed to go up again 400 stairs, so almost two times! Yes, very proud of myself! Oh and this morning the scale said I lost 1 kilo (2 pounds). Weeeeee!!!
