I'm not sure if I'm getting enough or the right kind of protein in the morning. I usually put about 4 oz. of pineapple juice and 4 oz. water in a shaker and add 2 scoops of rice protein powder (about 24 grams), All One powdered vitamin/minerals, a tablespoon of bentonite, and a tablespoon of either psyllium or flax meal. This is all I have until lunch (which is usually a salad with tuna). For the most part, I drag around all day feeling spacey. I try to stick pretty closely to the program (it's only been a couple of months), but I notice lately that I have been feeling worse, and I have been gaining weight. I was hoping the diet would help me to feel more energetic and normalize my cholesterol and blood pressure. Any ideas? Ken |

Your are an O and probably require a red meat protein to feel your best. It isn't until I eat some meat that my brain comes to life. |

I heard a well-known NP who specializes in digestive health say that no one should take psyllium. |

We don't always have leftovers(sob) so on those days, I have two eggs - next best thing to meat/fish for this O - scrambled with ricemilk, or add some greens, mozarella etc. Soft boiled egg with salad is good, or fruit first & eggs 1/2hr later. Walnuts or almonds on the fruit adds a little protein too. carmen |

Coleus forskohlii increases cyclic AMP (adenosine monophosphate) when transitioning from a vegan lifestyle the herbal supplement Forskohlii was recomended to me as an assist to digestive normalizing and easing the transition. does aid the digestive shock on retuning to a substance that is has been without. reputed to boost energy metabolism in vegetarians who have blood types which require animal protein for optimal health ...it has the same effects on cellular metabolism as red meat does for O's.

I usually put about 4 oz. of pineapple juice and 4 oz. water in a shaker and add 2 scoops of rice protein powder (about 24 grams),
If like your smoothies/shakes or would like to keep them for convenience you could also use an egg or a lump of cooked beef for protein - might use a darker (colour) juice if using beef as it starts to look a bit odd otherwise. You could also add some ground nuts if you don't mind the slightly crumbly texture. |

doc, are you tired in the mornings, no matter how much sleep you get, unless it's ALOT, I mean. And do you 'resist' going to bed at night, even if you know you should or may be a little tired? |

I make sundays my cooking day. I usually cook up some chicken breats, some beef burgers, maybe a flank steak or chili. All meats are organic. I also make some side dishes like black-eyed pea salad and my famous roasted root veggie dish called "Le Grande Menage a Trois" or "The Big Three-some".
Once everything is made... you can then just pick and choose here and there and mix in with steamed greens and other side plates. Simplifies life GREATLY! |

No one mentioned this that I could see, but I question the daily intake of bentonite. I can understand its usefulness in a short protocol for intestinal cleansing. |

Phred, do you just keep all of that in the frig for the week?
I'd like that M a Trois as well.
I used to have pineapple juice, banana, greens and egg all whipped up for breaky and then had blood tests for allergies and golly darn, I'm allergic to pineapple juice, bananas, and eggs !!
I think it's time I started eating my supper for breakfast because eating puffed rice isn't satisfying me.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone ! |

Wow, Colleen, that really bites doesn't it!!!!!!!! Having dinner for breakfast is kinda tough, but I've been pushing myself to do it. The only breakfast thing I have anymore is eggs. Oh well................ Yes, yes, I feel better for it (cause I know somebody's gonna ask ) |

I notice a lot of responses to your post, but none of them really expresses the shock that I feel reading your post, because if that's what I ate, I'd be dragging myself around, too! It sounds to me that not only are you not eating enough, you aren't focused on meat protein, which is the best kind for you to have. I eat two servings (about half a pound) of red meat (beef, buffalo, lamb) EVERY day, with veggies, lots of good fats (flaxseed oil, almonds, walnuts, compliant mayo, tahini), and some green tea thrown in for good measure, and sometimes I'm still hungry. You'll find (and there are some other posts on this board that attest to this) that if you eat beneficial oils you'll lose weight. It really jump starts your metabolism. This may sound like a lot of food, but I haven't gained a pound for three years, and I'm pretty much at my ideal weight. So go for it! |
