I know we are permitted chocolate but it is said 'only small quantities' - I can really make a whole meal of the stuff!!! I even saw some 99% Lindt dark chocolate, but it was a very thin bar and I thought I'd better not start by even buying one........
I like tahini on ryvita but would have that as a light supper, with honey drizzled over.
Just had a thought... what about Cook Right For Your Type book page 353 - I was looking at the recipe for Peanut Butter Sweets, not sure I've ever seen powered goats milk here, perhaps I could use powered soya milk?? But no sign of any chocolate!!
I don't like sweet things much , but once in a while I have a nut flour cookie that has been sweetened with honey. A soy decaf latte from Peets coffee is a treat for me. I'd rather have fat like peanut butter.
I quite often use vegetable glycerine to sweeten drinks when I need that kind of psychological lift. I love using fruits such as blueberries, raspberries and plums with yoghurt, stirred into an attractive cream. My favourite is dried pineapple chunks, and dried ginger. Also have nuts(walnuts and almonds) and figs on hand for emergencies. Jenny
I use maple syrup as sweetener and otherwise I eat fruit. They are always sweet, lots of pineapple, mango (yes it's good to be a nonnie), banana (again good being a nonnie) and at times I will make banana bread. I use the recipe from dr. D in the cook right book but I add apple and raisins. Great to satify any craving.
I find that dried figs, dried apricots, fresh pineapple cubes at room temperature (so it does not chill my teeth nor liver), and organic apples satisfy my sweet cravings.
I tend to favor savory versus sweet foods.

Dates satisfy my sweet cravings. Alas, I cannot eat peanut butter any more . . . , but, I used to eat peanut butter with organic, fruit sweetend cranberry jam on Kamut densem bread . . . again . . .
Recently, started eating Soy yogurt and sweetened with stevia and add apple/cherry sauce . . . very tasty.
My Asec hubbie enjoys allfruit jam (french stuff made with pear juice) on compliant toast, and we are always buying carob coated dried fruit from hfs (have to watch out for milk content tho). I bake btdfriendly cakes (chocolate, lemon almond cakes)& slices (shortbread made with ghee & spelt etc) as he seems to need the sugar hit - runs out of energy otherwise. Myself, I just have a taste, sigh. And spelt muffins (use blueberry, apple, cranberry, nuts, choc etc) We get a dairyfree dark chocolate in bulk from local hfs - great for cooking but bit sharp just to eat, and we have lindt dark orange (yeh I know, but dairyfree!) or the lemon one but harder to catch. Mixed dried fruits and nuts (pineapple, apple, apricot, fig, ginger, peanuts, walnut, almond etc) are always on hand. Breakfast includes fresh fruit in season - he has honey yoghurt with.
carmen btd since April 2004! more blues (music) - bring it on
I keep bars of Green & Blacks Dark Chocolate in the fridge (I just looked and there is no dairy) and break off a small piece to satisfy my sweet tooth. I crave salt much more than sugar, so that usually satisfies. Before starting BTD I would usually have a tootsie roll pop sucker at night. Would that still be okay?
I've also found that pluots (plum/apricot combo) are sweet enough to satisfy a sugar urge.

I love to add frozen raspberries to plain unsweetened yoghurt. I make homemade jam from plums. You can also by unsweetened jams from France. And most likely the US has its own brands. I use rice syrup as a sweetener; try it in rice pudding. Pumpkin tastes good cooked with sour apple and raisins. Add some nutmeg and/or cinnanom.
This time of year I love to eat apples and pears. Japanese pears are very sweet and juicy. Make a trail mix using plenty of dried fruit. I happen to love apricots.
You can stew fruit and put it over anything: oatmeal, rice pudding (use soy milk), yoghurt, etc.
Here's another sweet treat idea. I bought a small can of crystallized ginger chips. You can use them for baking or add to cereals and salads, but I just love popping a few in my mouth and enjoying the sweet coating that dissolves into a warm rush of ginger.

I love crystalized ginger; perhaps a little too much, though. I have been known to eat the whole package in one sitting!

blech, gag and throw it in the trash!!! sugar is dare I say, prob () white sugar, (avoid) and all the others highlighted are avoids. I highlighted the art colors because a lot of people are allergic to those. citric acid is prob from corn, (avoid) and the milk and whey are prob avoids as well, tho not sure on that. one big avoid fest. but of course, once in a while won't kill ya! and then again, it depends on what level of compliancy you're trying to achieve/maintain. I just noticed they say they don't use corn or soy - isn't soya lecithin from soy?
oo wow, I'd found out some rare peanutbutter here in Zürich...what a heck how lecker and then...sometimes a bit of a whit choc. kiss ....here I prefere not to get the knowledge about all ingredients

I recently found some organic unstemmed (Turkish?) dried figs at my HFS that are absolutely 'nummers'. They are way better than the other dried figs I have tried.

Drea, are they the ones in those little baskets?
They're something special!
The one's I get come in a small baggie in the refrigerated section of the HFS. Still yummy, though! A little too yummy, I might add. The other day I managed to eat...oh about 8 of them, and that indiscretion caused a lot of smelly gas .
So the moral of this story is while they are very tasty, I cannot eat more than a couple at a time.
