I want to thank you for your blogs! It's great to find someone so passionate about BTD! I am coming back to it after being off for some time. I do believe I have some support for it now though. I had been scared off of it by my doctor and then found my health was better while I was on it and NOT following her advice! I don't understand why so many people refuse to give BTD a chance...

Leave your weeds as mulch around your plants after you've pulled them up and shaken the dirt off the roots. They'll help hold the moisture in. You can do this for all except the type of weed that, if left laying on the dirt, will turn its roots down and start growing again. Growing up we were burdened with what we call sticker weeds. They would literally turn their pulled-up roots right back down into the ground if you left them there. We'd pull them up (or hack them out with a hoe, if they got too big) and carry them over to the gravel driveway where the sun would bake them and we could drive over them in the car.

Beautiful analagy re our lives.
I'm not sure if its purslane, but I am eating a slightly bitter weed that grows up in a bright green clump; when it is finely chopped, or lightly cooked it is indistinguishable from the other greens in a mixed packet of salad.
Thanks again for identifying AW--makes it easy for me to keep in touch!
