Great blog, Andrea! My husband balks when I make turkey because it's not "manly." He says turkey, tofu and chicken are for girls. "Give me blood," he grunts, as I roll my eyes. Interesting thoughts.

The reason why there is a preference may be more interesting then establishing that men tend to prefer meat more than women.

Why do men like meat more than women? Is it because you have to kill it and women do not care for the killing process?

Or is it more that that men crave fat and women crave carbs.

I think it is the preference for fat. I think a cheese pizza with lots of fat will appeal to men more than women.

I think sweets (say a choclate bar) appeals to men more than woman.

Within the meat category I see more women opting for low fat meats and men choosing high fat meats.

Hi Andrea,
also A Women , if used to red meat, did not like to avoid beef and too much meat. May it be that often we are deeply linked to our eating and cooking habits ?

You are so right, I have found it is very hard to get most all(not all but most) A males off meat.

And I have seen more health troubles with O females that won't eat meat.

Gender does have a big part in it.

Love your concept of sitting after a meal - so friendly and conducive to good interactions; I can't do this myself anymore as I live alone, but I do love entertaining, and because most of the younger couples in my life don't have entertainment facilities, we can meet here, sit on my back porch, each couple or family bringing a dish to share, so that everyone feels that they are part of the hospitality team.
