A HUGE thanks to several individuals who really took the time to help me out with my little guy. After reading all of our different suggestions, here is what I decided to try:
Prevention: Daily gluten free multivitamin, daily 1/4 tsp of cod liver oil, windows shut and fan on during allergy season, ( we ruled out dust and dog allergies) 2 tablets of Dadamo's A probiotic, healthy diet for an A non secretor of course
Treatment: At the first sign of a cold, emergence C vitmain packet for kids with a 500 mg extra dose of Vitmain C, 4 tsps of Sambuco (spelling) syrup (elderberry mainly) spread out throughout the day, hylands cold tablets for congestion as needed (extra zinc) and lots of sleep and no daycare whatsoever.
At the first sign of an actual ear infection: (coughing or doctor's visit), hylands earchae drops as needed, hylands earache tablets, watchful waiting (giving it 48 hours to see if ear infections can go away on there own), no tylenol for fever except in cases of extreme sleep deprivation, cool mist vaporizer for easier breathing and frequent cleaning in order to prevent mold, homemade turkey veggie broth as often as he will drink it, and all of the above.
If the earache drops (hyland) do not seem to cut it, there were several other suggestions given to me that i would be moe than willing to try. Also, I reallky hope that we don't get ot the tpoint of his eardrum actually popping. Even the instrucitons on the hyland's label states that if it doesn't work within two days, to try soemthing else. And please don't misunderstand, I amnot against doctovr's visits to diagnose what is wrong. But I really think at this point, it has been prven that antibiotics do not work for him longer term and barely work for him short term.

Mr. P, Mr. A, and Miss L - thank you very much for your input. After going through six different antibiotics since August, I know longer feel guilty about trying something extremely different with my two year old. In case I have forgotten to mention it lately (hah- the brain is foggy), my two year old has constant ear infections.
I am told that this all works together. His potential celiac disease, weak flora in his gut, multiple food allergies, and what seems like a weak immune system (weak or overworked, I just don't know.)
Anyway, I have read everything I can get my hands on, and now I am ready to try something new.
First step - prevention. What is causing his Estachian tube to become blocked and why can't his own immune system fight the infections?
I do not believe that indoor pollutants are the cause, as he did not come down with one ear infection all summer long. My house is just as dusty now as it was then, the dog is still here, etc. Still, I cleaned the heck out of his room this week and I am going to pay more attention to his room from here on out.
Seasonal allergies could be the cause, and I have decided to add an anti-inflammatory supplement to his diet. He will be getting 1/4 tsp of lemon flavored cod liver oil on a daily basis. (Try not to laugh, but this stuff comes highly recommended.)
I have reposted Dadamo's suggested food servings back up on my fridge, and I am following them more closely. (For example, my O has been requesting grilled cheese 6 days a week. Sorry pal, you are in for more beef. )
I will be attacking the very first sign of a cold with 500 mg of vitamin C and the early stages of an ear infection will multiple doses of ear drops.) I have now learned that you are supposed to warm them first (egads, I didn't know cold ear drops could be painful.)
I will be discontinuing the glass of water in a sippy cup at bedtime. Laying down and drinking (even water) can cause fluid to gather in his ears. Not all children's tubes angle downward.
Last but not least, if he is still suffering, then we will spend big bucks cleaning our air ducts and installing a HEPA filter. I will also stop bringing him to the YMCA daycare - at least for awhile.
I have been told to keep my son away from all daycares (even churches) if at all possible, but this is the most difficult step for me. #1) It will mean no more adult contact for myself, no more exercise, and no more guaranteed "peace and quiet" time. I also can't help but wonder if it will truly do any good, as he is exposed to germs through his older brother going to school. Not to mention, preschool is not that far away, unless I choose to keep him home until kindergarden.
I may just cut down on the amount of YMCA trips and try to go when my husband can watch the kids. Of course, that presents problems as well.
As I mentioned earlier, thank you Mr P, Mr A and Miss L. I will also investigate your suggestions. I feel like donning a helmet and shouting "On with the battle! I am ready for you now!"
Has anyone ever tried using Hyland's Earache tablets or earache drops? My two year old has is now suffering with his third ear infection since school started in August. The first two ear infections were treated with antibiotics - both of which had to be discontinued prior to their 10 day prescription. One caused a skin rash almost immediately and the other one produced a three day stint of diarehea. (Please forgive misspellings.)
I feel like every antibiotic sets him up for a future illness because it weakens the health of his digestive track. I realize that the next step would be to insert tubes into his ears, but I also feel like giving homeopathic medicines a chance to work or fail before allowing my child to be knocked out by anesthesia. Not to mention the fact that we will be paying close to 500 dollars out of pocket for tubes to be placed in his ears.

I think the title says it all. I chose to exercise at dinner time instead of my usual 9:00 A.M. It must have thrown me off. It wouldn't be so bad except that I am supposed to start functioning at 5:00 A.M. I am yawning now, so maybe there is hope (two hours is better than nothing.)
The hubby fixed grilled halibut and mung bean noodles for dinner. There was a slight miscommunication as he used butter on the halibut (lactose intolerant two year old) instead of ghee. I had hoped the three boys could have enjoyed the fish while my A secretor self ate canned tuna. Poor guy, he felt really bad when he realized that he had left out the two year old. But at least he is trying!
Even though the hubby is not interested in changing his food choices, I appreciate him helping out with the kids, and I appreciate him cooking what I have laid out. Let's face it, when one spouse works two jobs, the last thing they have time for is to memorize a food list. I think I may start posting beneficial foods (especially the meat categories) right on the fridge door. In fact, that may just help me figure out which type of meats to buy at the store - which will hopefully please everyone. Eleven years into the marriage, and I just discovered this year that he likes grilled halibut. Eleven years. Wow.
It was another accidental success. Leftovers mixed in with a little this, a little that... I never would have imagined that this combo works, but my little guy and I devoured it for lunch.
leftover chicken fried rice (not really fried. it's the classic recipe but the rice is steamed - no soy sauce, no salt, no msg, etc...green peas, a little green onion, egg and chicken)
thai fish sauce (anchovy and salt)
scrambled eggs with sauteed onion, sea salt, kale, and a little almond milk to make the eggs fluffy
more sea salt as needed
a little olive oil
The anchovy fish sauce is technically an avoid for A secretors and a neutral for non secretors. Since I used it as a condiment, I didn't worry about it too much. I simply combined these leftovers together and warmed it up on the stove top ( a little olive oil so nothing would burn. ) Yes, it sounds really strange, but it tasted so good!
