Another B’day Passed

February 11th, 2007 , by admin

Hi y’all, I’m thirty-two feeling strong and looking great thanks to the Blood Type Diet! I am so completely thankful to have found this way of life, and thrilled to be married to a man who is supportive in my/our food choices. The strongest belief that I retain from this experience is in following the weekly charting procedure so that all food is in balance. Eating enough yogurt, grains, and limited poultry with the right amount of fish are essential to my personal well being.

My newest mental and spiritual health practice is something that I’ve known about for a long time, but never put into action. Daily affirmations and prayer have increased my outlook, made eating well easier (I tend to eat compulsively and out of stress), and best of all kept SAD at bay all through this winter.

Stay compliant, be well…and breathe…

Not sick!!

January 4th, 2007 , by admin

Hi’ya all…I’m SO SORRY for not blogging in forever…what can I say; shall I blame my funky, flighty, wayward blood type? I think that there’s no better place than here to do such a thing, but even I won’t sink so low!! Obviously it’s been hectic, and I have been poor about getting to my home computer. But! The food has been great, even through the holidays!! I’ve been so compliant that I’m noticing “second level” avoids that bother my system when before I didn’t notice them.

For example, when I was only not eating corn, chicken and oranges, but not being too careful about anything else, I didn’t notice the occasional avoid fish, fruit or veggie. I have been compliant to my weekly portions chart; eating enough yogurt, not too much poultry, cutting down on my coffee intake (trying), and I notice it in my body when the so-called second level avoids enter the picture. I noticed it with fish and cheese in particular.

Very interesting stuff. I’ll take time this weekend to collect my thoughts further and write a proper blog then. In the meantime, happy double-oh-seven year to you!!

Be well and stay compliant…

Still Sick…

October 18th, 2006 , by admin

Hey gang, I’m still sick from the beginning of the school year cold, and it’s really starting to wear me down!! The little six and seven year olds have tons of NASTY germs running around their bodies, and there seems little way to escape it. Hubby seems to have escaped the sickness up until now, which means that we may end up passing it back and forth to each other here in the house. Huge bummer, man!

Anyhow, we’re both loaded up with extra Vitamin C and multi-vitamins, lots of water and tea, healthy food (most of the time…we were on an ice cream/frozen yogurt binge for a little while there), and not enough rest. That’s the piece that I need to work on. I simply cannot get to bed early!!! I’m trying. I’ll shoot for 9pm tonight. Scout’s honor. Really. I promise…

On the food front, we’ve been cooking lots at home, and hubby has been taking in his lunch to work (so much better that eating out). Most everything has been compliant, though we should add more veggies to each meal. I’ve been making lots of crustless quiches and frittatas with leftover veggies. This week’s was peas and carrots, and you know what? With a little bit of nutmeg, it wasn’t half bad!!!

I hope that this finds you all well, compliant, and healthy. Enjoy these beautiful fall days before the long, dark winter sets in…

Back to School

September 5th, 2006 , by admin

Hey y’all!! Well, it’s that time again…backtoschool…

I am very happy to be starting a new year at a new school with a new job. It will be a great adventure with lots to learn. Best of all, the children, staff and community are top notch. I am looking forward to being a part of such a wonderful group of people.

On other notes, the new hubby and I are back on track with eating. After being so “good” for all of the summer (we were terrified of getting sick before the wedding!!), we’ve done nothing but gorge since. And guess what! Huge shocker!!! I’M SICK!!!!!!!!! UGH….

Anyhow, we’ve got the back-to-school routine started which includes meal planning for the week, cooking ahead, and packing lunches. My favorite recipes include former blogger Mike’s WORLD FAMOUS parsley soup (of which I’ve made a giant pot-full for the cold), chile-garlic eggplant, calabacitas, and homemade beans. Add to this our sushi nite Friday, and I could be a happy eater forever consuming only these recipes with some raw fruits and veggies thrown in for good measure. However, I’ve been a BTD’er long enough to know that this won’t cut it diet-wise.

So…

I’m going to be diving into the recipe books for inspiration and variety at mealtime. May time, local produce, and imagination be on my side for deliciousness in our lunchbags and at our table.

Until next time, take care and be well…

And So “I Do” I Did

August 24th, 2006 , by admin

My fabulous fiancé and I tied the knot on August 12th. It was a perfect New England day with a very fun celebration including breakfast, Irish fiddles and improv comedy (think Who’s Line is it Anyway). We went on our honeymoon in California up north in SF, Sonoma and the redwoods before going back down to SoCal (I had to have my West Coast reception!!). It was so great being back in Cali with fresh healthy produce in the stores, and every meal easy to eat with beneficial food choices. There’ll be more blogs to come very soon…but for now, laundry is calling my name!!!
