You won't find better tasting foods than those you grow and harvest at the peak of perfection. The "fresh" grocery fruits and vegetables were picked prior to full ripeness so they would actually make it to the store before they were rotten. This means that they missed out on the last week or so of ripening, when most of the flavor is developed. You can try this at home - pick one piece about a week early and store it in the refrigerator and wait to pick another piece at the peak. I'm sure you will be able to tell the difference in both taste and texture. This isn't the perfect test because at home you don't have the benefit of gasification, etc. that the commercial entities have "perfected" to maintain the fruit on the way to your grocer...

Enjoy your produce...
