About Jean
Jean, an O Non, has been on the Blood Type Diet since 1997. She found the diet while trying to breastfeed an incredibly hungry baby boy (now 8 years old and an O Non) and during a time she was eating a supposedly healthy grain filled/beef avoid diet. Jean remembers she felt hungry all the time and even had dreams of rare prime rib with horseradish!!
I can still feel the warm glow of having my first beneficial piece of steak with no guilt, my son slept through the night without waking up to feed. I started him on pureed veal and beef after that and he started to thrive. He has only been stay at home sick 2 times since then,” says Jean.
Jean has started her whole family on the diet. Her older son, 13 is an O sec, is very knowledgeable about the diet and accepts there are certain things that are beneficial for him and certain foods like dairy, he needs to avoid. Her husband Jeff, an A sec, has taken a long time to accept this type of eating, but he knows that red meat contributes to his insomnia and dairy gives him sinus infections.
Jean used to fight with her weight all the time and now finds she controls it through the diet and of course, strenuous exercise. In 2004, Jean had a misdiagnosed ruptured appendix that was removed after 4 days. Jean followed the diet throughout her recovery and she was back on the ski hill within 4 weeks even after spending 1 week in the hospital. Her surgeon was very impressed she didn’t need antibiotics for longer than 4 days!!
Jean and her husband Jeff own a promotional product company. In addition, Jean currently consults for businesses with a specialty in turnaround situations and psychometric testing. She is studying to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist with aspirations to eventually open a nutrition consulting practice.
Jean and Jeff are avid skiers and golfers. They have 2 boys who spend winters on the dark side (they do Boarder X, roller derby on snowboards) The boys play lacrosse in the summer (believe it or not, no Hockey!!!) They live in Calgary in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.
