Keeping up...
August 16th, 2006 , by admin![]()
I'd better get to blogging or I might get fired!
The trip to Monterrey was interesting. It was during the weekend that was so hot. Luckily our motel was near the coast, so the temperatures were quite moderate. Inland, at the racetrack was another story. No shade, no running water (a water main had broken) and pretty downright miserable. I followed hubby and daughter around and took an ‘academic’ interest in everything. The big MotoGP race itself was very loud and smelly. But don’t tell anyone I love I said that. The highlight of the trip was a 200-mile ride along Highway 1. It was absolutely spectacular. I had done the ride in a car before, but on the back of the bike was thrilling as well as beautiful. Lots of twisties.
A couple weeks after that I had a barbershop singing training weekend on the other side of the mountains in Yakima. I talked hubby into taking me over on the bike. It allowed him some rides that he normally wouldn’t do because they are too far away from our home. We both had a good time. He got to ride and I got to learn more about my hobby.
Right now it’s Liver and Onions season. Hubby is off in Hawaii helping daughter get set up in her new place while she spends the next few years going to school. It will take some getting used to not seeing her for months at a time. But, I think I know where I’ll be taking vacations for awhile. There is an extra bedroom with our name on it.
For those who are fairly new to the BTD blogger world, Liver and Onions season refers to my favorite meal. I am not allowed to cook it in the house when hubby and daughter are around. They can’t handle the smell. So, whenever they have been away together for motorcycle trips or whatever, I get really excited about being able to indulge in my favorite treat. He comes home tomorrow, so I’ll finish the liver up tonight. Oh yum!
My trips will soon slow down for awhile. Hubby and I have one more long motorcycle weekend coming up next week, then I think I’m home till October. I really must get on the BTD stick. I do okay until the weekend trips. Sometimes I try to be compliant, but more often than not I’m too lazy to make the effort in the restaurants. I know it is the Avoids taking hold. One avoid begets another, and another until I’m one stuffy, bloated mess.
So, no more promises. I will play it day by day.
