The agony of a new bathroom scale
Well, today Muppet turned 15 years old. A couple weeks ago I wasn’t so sure he’d make it. The medicine the vet gave us has worked well to keep the fluid out of his lungs. The blood panel she did showed that everything is functioning very well except for his heart. The medicine will give him a bit more time.
Mt. Augustine has been spewing forth steam and ash almost constantly the past couple days. Fortunately, we have been spared any ashfall. This could go on for quite some time. A major explosion is unlikely if it continues this way as the steam vent is still open. A major eruption could happen if the vent closes and lets the steam build up again.
While walking at the grocery store today, I was watching a lovely Russian woman and her children. The women are easy to spot as they are always very well dressed in their long dresses and, if married, their hair is covered. The men dress in their suits and most often wear hats. The children are similarly dressed, except the unmarried girls don’t wear hair coverings. Most come from a Russian village between here and Homer. Actually, there are two villages as they split a few years ago over religious differences. They speak Russian and the children are taught primarily in their own tongue. They migrated to Alaska about the same time I did in 1959.
It is above zero today. It should stay that way until late tonight and then will drop down below zero again, but not nearly so far below as it has been for the past week or so. In another week, it should be back to normal temperatures in the teens and twenties.
I was devastated earlier today when I stepped on our newly obtained bathroom scales. Our old scales needed to be replaced, but I thought they were still accurate. Well, upon stepping on the new scales I immediately gained almost 15 pounds! Boy, if that didn’t bring me down. Not to be the only one that gained that much, I had the twins step on it too. They gained that much, too. Now, just wait until my husband does that. He’s not going to be happy at all and I’m sure a diet will be his next step. It is really amazing how a piece of equipment can bring a person mood up or down. But…
I am absolutely thrilled that my skin has made dramatic improvement the past few months. I don’t usually pay all that much attention to my skin, but I did notice the other day that I don’t have cellulite anywhere, anymore! Wow!!! Then I noticed that I don’t have turkey skin on my legs either! And, I also don’t have skin tags on my neck, shoulders, or abdomen anymore either!!! I used to have about a dozen of those skin tags and they really bothered me. I haven’t any idea when they all left, but they did. That has to be related to the blood type diet!!! I’ve been staying about 90% compliant. I’ve been getting my essential fatty acids with the flaxseed in my morning smoothie with lots of fruits. Well, it has paid off with much healthier skin. Now, to get my BP under control.
Tonight’s dinner is a crockpot cooked moose roast with many different vegetables and rice. The carrots and onions were cooked with the moose. I added the broccoli, spinach, mixed vegetables with zucchini, and rice a little later. We’ll be eating shortly. Take care.
