My older son crashed while snowboarding so as a precaution, the ski hill sent him by ambulance on a backboard to the Children's Hospital. It ended up being a bruise on the lower back, but his helmet saved his head from serious injury.
We need to check out his helmet to ensure that it can sustain more hits but otherwise, everything is OK.
There were numerous other things going on at the hospital last night. We were in an 8 bed triage room and all the beds were full. Only 2 were injuries, the rest were horrible respiratory conditions, mostly babies under the age of two.
When the doctors spoke to my son, they were quite amazed my son didn't have anything wrong with him and that he had never been to children's before. They kept asking about asthma and other allergies and my son kept saying no. He did keep saying though he was intolerant of wheat and dairy. The nurses commented on what is left to eat and B said meat, vegetables and fruit!!!
I then listened to the rest of the rooms, none of the babies were being breastfeed, they were all on formula, milk and juice. The doctors don't ask if they have been drinking fluids like water, breastmilk etc, instead they ask if they have been drinking fluids like formula, juice and milk.
The children over 2 had been in the ER with respiratory problems before and new they took a mask of ventalin, then would eat a "nutritious" snack of cereal and milk. The babies sounded like many of them had ear infections, been on antibiotics for 5 days, got diarhea (sp), and respiratory infections. They too were getting masks of ventalin and then bottles of formula.
It was an incredible night and I wanted to stand in the middle of the triage room and say, get your babies off cow milk formula, stop feeding them wheat and get them eating 4 their blood types but of course, no guts....
Asthma cases are up 400% in Calgary alone. The triage room was full of asthma instructions for parents and as the nurses pointed out, their greatest single admit is asthma, then ski/snowboard/bike accidents but the ratio is about 70/30...
So my question of the day is how to educate mainstream populations (parents) who desparately need to find out about Blood Type Diets so their children don't end up with chronic conditions...
