Holly Jolliness!!!
Hello, sorry I've been out......too much going on personally.....Thanksgiving in Florida for 2 weeks, 2 family funerals, not to mention THE holidays............I'm sure everyone's busy with all their personal ups & downs as well but I'm definately over due for a check-in here............so what have I been up to food wise...........
A little cheating here & there & it shows mostly in stomach aches & digestive woes. Since it's been so long since the last blog, I can't really remember exactly WHAT it was that sent me down hill but there's a few memorable instances.......like the Korean BBQ I went to a few weeks ago for a friends B-day/surprise engagement. Great time & great food but boy was I feeling it later. Not ONE THING there was beneficial & like one neutral. B/c it's a family style place w/ no lettering on the food, I'm positive almost everything I ate was an avoid. It was however, delicious. Sometimes, especially during the holidays, you can't help yourself, you're just going to end up in a place or situation where there are NO other alternatives. The best you can do is enjoy yourself......that's what the good Doctor reccomends & it makes perfect sense to me. Another good tip I read somewhere online.......you like EGGNOG.....
Think of it as your dessert, not your drink........that way you limit yourself to one glass towards the end of the party instead of chugging down several all night. Another good tip for O's from the message boards..........seltzer neutralizes the avoids in white wine for you so go crazy on the white wine spritzers!!!! (Just give someone else the keys.....:-) They are however a neutral which won't help that beer belly of my hubby's so I try to get him closer to the beneficial RED WINE.......it works.....sometimes.....:-D
The DDR has also been put on hold w/ the combination of getting out Christmas/wedding picture cards & studying for the next LIRR exam. It's tough. Even my mom whose a flight attendant doesn't have to memorize & go through all the safety procedures we do. It's like studying for a bar exam one friend said, but about trains.........I'm looking forward to it though when I finally get paid in April........then it will all be worth it.
Not sure what to get people for the holidays? Here's a healthy & probably welcome change from cookies. Expensive as they are, pick up some bulk bags of walnuts, pecans & dried cherries. All are neutral or beneficial to all blood types. Put them in a pretty tin, like the 99 cent ones from Party City, & you should be set. If you know the person's blood type, throw in some other trail mix type goodies that might be beneficial for them. They're great pick me ups when you feel your blood sugar drop but you know you should stay away from that holiday fudge.....:-) If you want to throw in some chocolate, try the choc chips by Trader Joe's - they don't have all the additives & avoids that the big name brands have hidden in them........
Cheers & Keep up the warm spirits everyone! Email if you have a question.
