I hate colds....
My cold knocked me for a loop for a while, and I am still coughing and drippy, but feel fine. Just past the peak of it, when I was still not feeling great or ready to be functional, I got a call from the temp agency asking if I would take a temporary position earning about 60% of what I was before. Not ideal. I decided to take it, though, and I'm working in the engineering department of a large hotel on the beach here in LA. I can't wait until they hire someone full-time for the position, either - it's dirty, noisy, and when there was suddenly a large BOOM and my boss came running out of his office yelling "Did you hear that? That was the boiler!" and RAN out of the office, I just about picked up my things and left. They do have a free cafeteria for the employees, though, which is good, except that there is very little there that I can eat. Most everything they serve for lunch is beef, which gives me migraines, so forget that. And everything else has wheat or dairy in it, so I'm sticking with the salad bar, which is not great, but keeps me from starving.
Spent most of the weekend flopped out at home not doing much- it was cold and rainy, so it was a good weekend for that. Had a drink Friday evening with a friend of mine, and then Gordon and I went to his mother's to talk wedding stuff. We spent about 5 hours eating dinner and talking with her. She made lamb chops, and they were wonderful! Gordon wasn't too happy about the lamb, though, since he's an A and has generally given up red meat. We were there until after midnight, and crashed when we got home.
Saturday I went and had coffee (soy chai!) with my dear friend SF, and she and I spent a few hours together catching up. We also went to Ann Taylor Loft and shopped a little bit, and we both found some GREAT stuff on sale. Gordon and I spent the rest of the day flopped in front of the TV catching up on some shows and just relaxing. I needed to rest and heal from my cold, and we were both tired.
Sunday we went out for breakfast, and then I went to Anne's and we went holiday shopping. Neither of us had done any shopping yet, and she wasn't in the mood to do it, and I just had no good ideas for people. So we wandered the mall, and I started AND finished my holiday shopping for Gordon! I don't need to do much else, he and I will figure stuff out for his family, and my most of my family stopped exchanging gifts years ago. Anne had a holiday party to get to, so I headed home and picked up a rotisserie chicken, some dairy-free cream of broccoli soup, and some black beans for dinner, and Gordon and I hung out and ate dinner and watched more TV, and I was in bed about 10:45.
I think this week will be fairly relaxing - I have some social things to do, but all fun stuff, so it should be good. And we will probably spend most of next weekend finding a location for the wedding!
