I am a healthy, 41 yr. old, type O, female. I have been on your diet very religiously for 2 weeks. I am starting to experience moderate swelling in my hands and feet with arthritis-like aching in my fingers, knees and ankles. Is there some period of detox to be expected and this is normal or should I be concerned about this discomfort? I have always been a protien, fruit and vegetable eater. The only real change to my diet has been the exclusion of wheat and corn. I was also told by a friend the "white corn" is okay for type "O". Is that true or should all corn be avoided? Lisa
Corn should indeed be avoided in all its forms. If we someday find a variety that does not carry the "corn lectin," we'll be posting an update on this site!
Yes, it does sound like the symptoms you're experiencing are the result of eliminating wheat and corn. It happened to me in a very slight form. I wouldn't be concerned about it, as long as it clears up in a month or so.
Taking DEFLECT-O™ and perhaps Taraxacum will help speed this process through loosening old lectin-damaged tissues, and boosting liver and kidney function to eliminate the toxins and release the swelling. You needn't take them forever. They can be used just for a "jump-start" to ease the transition for your system as it adjusts to the new diet.
Thanks for your note, and let me know how you're feeling now!
