Invincibility, that's what I was aiming for too. Not this weekend. I'm now battling herpes simples on my lips! This makes twice this year I've had this attach. Comes on the tail of a cold or last winter, pneumonia. It's strange when I haven't had cold sores for 15 or so years and now twice in one season? yes, strange the havoc one nasty pathogen can cause.

someone on this website sent me to Walter Last's website and his writings about "healing crisis". I am still pondering that idea.....that the more we seek real health, the more we will have these "healing crisises". It may be true as I didn't have these virus attacks until I started to get healthy the BTD and GEnotype way.

Yes, I was hoping for invincibility, but I guess that takes more than just a healthy diet ;) It also takes a positive attitude, self-control, sometimes taking the harder road (like avoiding antibiotics when they aren't absolutely necessary), and a bit of luck. It's amazing the havoc one small pathogen can start, or one course of antibiotics, but it's equally amazing how well our immune systems do protect us, even at their weak points.

Very good points about our food production. Hopefully my thumb will be more green next year, as my garden didn't do so well this year. I am, however, set for jerusalem artichokes.

I wonder what changes would come about if everyone gets out of debt and grows a garden...it may seem small in light of worldwide conditions, but it would really bring about some great changes.

Hi Melissa, Sorry you are struggling with the pneumonia. I had similar struggle last winter after bad case of flu. Currently I am getting over a cold. I can't help feeling somewhat disappointed with my immune system. I thought that 3 yrs on the BTD and now 9 mo on GTD and with all my other health improvements, that my immune system would be a lot stronger. I guess healing is a longer road than I anticipated.

I like the questions you bring up about our currrent lifestyles ( self created zoos) technology and future adaptations. Makes one wonder what our future food will consist of. Optimistically, I would like to think that with this financial crisis and looming depression, that local family farming will get popular again of necessity, and that we will depend more on them than the big industries we have now.

I feel more like the hunter when I have to "hunt" for high quality meats and alternative foods to replace what you called the "cargo" of our civilization.

I like to think that we are living in a time of nutritional faminine caused by our "abundance" or "cargo" and stubborn ignorance. Like some are suggesting in blogs about the financial crisis, that we are ultimately to blame because of the choices we have made to live beyond our means and by giving our power to those intstitutions who are in postions to abuse it.....likewise, we gave our power of food production over to the large industries and now we reap the consequences of their bad choices.
