Hi Melissa,

I have had a few issues with sinus and wondered what you would think if I used a neti with a solution of water and fresh olive leaf extract? It has anti-microbial and immune system strengthening properties.

I take the high strength olive leaf capsules to help while working on getting my diet right and have considered the neti.

I once used neti with blood temperature salty water...and they included an exhalation method through the nostrils...it was from the aryuvedic tradition. I remember having to bend over and breath out 15 times or something like that. They say it is important to dry up the sinus completely.

Have you ever heard of that being practiced?

Thanks very much,
Linda

I haven't heard of using olive leaf in a Neti, so I can't say. (If you try it, be sure to use saline water with it, I think that's what you meant, but just to clarify that for others.) There are a lot of different sinus wash solutions available, some with xylitol or colloidal silver. I've heard of putting probiotics in, but haven't tried that either. I have tried using a bit of goldenseal, on a doctor's advice, as an anti-microbial. I like the Alkalol to really thin the mucus and clear things out, but I don't know if it is also anti-microbial.

I do bend over and let my head and folded arms hang down for a while after using the neti, then blow my nose as I stand back up, to get any remaining fluid out, otherwise I'm sniffling all day! It sounds like you did something similar, but a little more thorough.
