Thanks for this blog post...but I have a question. I thought the BTD Way was to have grass-fed organic meat & fish? I don't think Sam's sells either, do they? Or are you more lax in that area? Plz advise! Thx!

Yes, Dr. D advises grass fed and wild caught. That is the best.
But when a family is on a tight budget, I believe he would agree that it is better to follow BTD principles as well as you can at grocery and discount stores, than to give up entirely. I dealt with this in a recent blog called Diet for All People.

BTW: Sam's lamb is grass fed.

My favorite lamb recipe is Slow Roasted Lamb by Raygelato.com. It's the only recipe I use now because it's so incredibly delicious. When we've eaten enough that way, I put the leftovers in the crockpot with a jar of Indian simmer sauce from TJ's (probably not BTD compliant) and serve it with rice.
Susanne, how do you cook your cod loins? I've tried the tilapia loins and liked them but the last time I cooked frozen cod it turned out so dry it was inedible.

That bison story is funny :)

Lamb is one of my favorite meats! I cut slits in it and insert cloves of garlic before roasting. Yum!

I can't buy meat in bulk because Costco doesn't carry kosher meats, but I love wholesale shopping for other things: vegetables, grains, almond butter, sweeteners- with my family of 4, we use "costco sized" packages up before they spoil.
