I couldn't agree with you more. I actually knew a woman who had to have her colon cleaned out because it was compacted with nothing but bone meal tablets!! I hate to think how hard a plain old calcium tablet would be.

And I'm like you, I am sick of "studies" that use one supplement without the others that are so necessary. The results are a waste of time and money.

In addition to needing Vitamin D and Magnesium with a Calcium supplement, I have read that you need Vitamin K also because Vitamin K1 plays a crucial role in the movement, integration and retention of Calcium. What do you know about this?

Kristina - I haven't researched the rold of Vitamin K with calcium, but Melissa's comment is on the same topic.

Also Vitamin K is important with Calcium and D supplementation. K directs the calcium into the bones, instead of calcium deposits in soft tissues (where nobody wants them). Healthy intestinal flora is important for vitamin K levels, as they convert dietary K into active K. Some K supplements are the active form, for those who don't absorb it well or have healthy flora.
