This looks really tasty! I had not thought to put pineapple, raisins, and nuts with green beans! Can’t wait to try it. But wondering what DD thinks about the pepper in curry powder… since I’m also Type A and avoid pepper, I make ‘curried’ foods using turmeric, yellow mustard, ginger, and ground coriander for a savory flavor. Adding ‘sweet’ spices like cinnamon and cloves for variety. Other possible spices are fenugreek, cumin, nutmeg, or paprika. And herbs like oregano, thyme, parsley, or seeds such as fennel and brown mustard. An Indian friend taught me to ‘roast’ the spices first in ghee, then add the chicken, cubed tofu, or veggies and pull the spices into the food and simmer, adding water/broth if necessary. Customized Type A-friendly curry! :)

Hi Carole! You've stumped me. Because curry powder is listed as super beneficial for Hunters, Teachers and Gatherers as well as beneficial for Type Os and neutral for Type As, I had never investigated the ingredients. I see that the brand I use not only has pepper, but nutmeg (which is beneficial for DD and HH, but avoid for me).

Perhaps Dr. D knows something about how the combination works that I don't know.

Perhaps since turmeric is so beneficial for all, and it is listed in the first few ingredients, while pepper and nutmeg are down near the end of the list, we get such a tiny amount of avoid that it isn't significant.

You make an interesting point, and your personal blend sounds really good.

Thanks for your reply, and, yes, I see how curry powder is rated... but I had always avoided it because I really can't tolerate the pepper even though I 'know' it isn't a large quantity! But when I realized how beneficial turmeric is, I just had to try to get it without the pepper! Curry aficionados seem to make a large variety of blends for different culinary purposes so... I thought, I can do that! (Darn that BTD - makin' me read labels! :) )
